Top Carrier Rollers: Wear Patterns & Maintenance

1. Normal Wear Measurement
Method: The normal wear condition of the tread should be measured using the same method applied to bottom rollers (using outside calipers on the tread diameter).

2. Excessive Flange Sidewear 
Causes: This is often caused by hillside operations (side-slope work), using special offset grousers, incorrect alignment, or improper track tension. 

Solutions: Ensure the carrier rollers are perfectly aligned with the idler and sprocket. If the machine is fitted with multiple top rollers, rotate their positions to even out wear.

3. Flat Spots and Irregular Wear 
Causes: Flat spots usually occur when mud or material packs under the roller, restricting its rotation while the chain drags over it.
